Happy Wednesday to you! It’s a busy summer and there’s lot of great things happening here at Portland First. Here are three things I really want you to know about!
- First Wednesday Prayer & Praise service is tonight! I am really looking forward to tonight’s service. We are going to be talking about Jesus’ teaching on new wineskins. Are we open to the new thing that God wants to do in our own hearts and lives? I hope you will join us as we come and invite God to do something new in us and shape our hearts in His image.
A couple of added bonuses for you — we will have an awesome meal starting at 5:30 in the gym AND we will have the air conditioning cranked up to keep you cool! I hope to see you there!
- #LovePDX Outreach Opportunity on Thursday. All of the great service projects we did last week were intended to just be the beginning of what God is calling us to. Our desire is to love and serve people around us every time God provides an open door. We sense that the record temperatures this week provide a great opportunity for us to serve. So, we will be serving cold bottled water and Otter Pops to commuters at the Sunset Transit Center on Thursday from 4-6 p.m. You can either meet us at the church at 3:15 or the transit center at 3:30. Wear your PDX First shirts if you have one and bring a smile!
Let us know you are coming by emailing me at email@example.com.
- A new teaching series starts this Sunday. On Sunday, August 6, we will start a new teaching series titled The Art of Bouncing Back: Life Lessons on Resilience from the Apostle Paul. We all go through hard times and at times face circumstances that feel like they might break us. The Apostle Paul knew something about facing extreme difficulties and bouncing back from them.
My prayer is that this series will be a great encouragement to your faith as a follower of Jesus, and that it would also be a great series to which to invite a friend or co-worker who is going through a difficult time. You won’t want to miss the first message in this series. We are praying for an anointed time of worship and for God to meet us in our broken places.
The series starts this Sunday at 10:30 a.m. in our worship center. Come and bring a friend!
