Hey, Portland First People!
I just wanted to send you a quick note to share with you how excited I am for this coming Sunday.
When I sat down months ago and began planning our current series on resilience, I had no idea how much I would get out of it personally, or that I would hear from so many of you whom it would impact so deeply. Nor could I have known that this Sunday’s message on how “our view of the next life impacts our resilience in this life” would fall on the same Sunday as the memorial service for Mike Bailey. But in God’s divine providence, He has designed this timely series specifically for us. What a loving God we serve!
One of the reasons I wanted to write you today was that this Sunday’s message will likely be the most evangelistic in the series. We will continue to receive encouragement from Paul on how to live a resilient life, but we will also challenge people to think deeply about eternity.
As we approach the weekend, could I ask you to join me in praying for three things:
- Pray that the Spirit of God would prepare the hearts of every man, woman, and child that will worship with us this weekend, including ourselves.
- Pray that God would give you the courage to invite at least one of the neighbors you’ve been building relationships with.
- Pray for our ministry team that God’s anointing would fall upon us, not because we are special, but because the people He has called us to reach are special.
It’s going to be a great weekend at PDX First! I hope to see you there!
