I was recently asked by a college student, “Is this the end of the world?” Her question was an honest response to the recent hurricanes, earthquakes, and fires that displaced thousands of people and caused billions upon billions of dollars worth of damage. In the wake of such a series of catastrophic events, it is understandable why she would be asking this question. In fact, I think a lot of people have been wondering the same thing.
What is my answer to that question? My conclusive response is that it definitely possibly certainly could be! The good news is that while Scripture tells us that no human knows the time and date that the world is going to come to an end, we can know and understand the signs that point to the fact that the end is near. In addition to that, the Bible is clear about how we should live in the last days and how we can ultimately survive the end of the world.
That is the goal of a new five-week teaching series at PDX First titled A Survivor’s Guide to the End of the World. I believe you will find it extremely informative and hope-filled. It is not God’s plan that we enter into these seasons and times filled with fear and anxiety about our future, but for us to enter into them with peace and hope.
The series starts this Sunday, October 29, at 10:30 AM. I hope you will join us and bring a friend.
