Barriers rise up around our lives, sometimes without us even realizing it. Soon we become so accustomed to these walls and barriers that we welcome them, maybe even find comfort in their ever-present standing. The truth is, it’s these walls in our spiritual & relational lives that keep us from fully living as God intends. What would our lives look like if we broke through these walls and stepped into God fully and completely? Join us this Wednesday for a First Wednesday service of seeking God for breakthrough in our church, our city, and in our lives. We will meet in the Youth Center.
Registration for Upward Basketball is now open! Please invite all the kindergarten-4th grade boys and girls in your life to sign up at pdxfirst.org/upward. We will begin recruiting volunteers soon! If you would like to help as a coach, referee, game day volunteer, or another role, please contact email@example.com for more details.
…to my church family for your prayers, visits, phone calls, and cards during my recuperation from a fall. It’s good to be able to worship in God’s house again. Love in Christ, Duane Ulrich

If you missed last week and would like to make a donation, it’s not too late! Simply mark your gift “Alabaster” and place it in the offering plate as it is passed.

Trip to Africa Nazarene University
Portland First is sending twelve people to Africa Nazarene University in Nairobi, Kenya. The team leaves this Saturday, October 7, and returns on Friday, October 20. The team has two primary tasks plus one special assignment: The tech team will deliver, install, and configure 50 security cameras. The maintenance team will work around the campus on much needed general maintenance. Debbie Goodwin is part of the team, and she will be working on a writing project. Please pray for the team as they prepare for the trip. When we fly into Nairobi, we would appreciate prayers for easy entry into the country. And as we work, please pray that we do our work with excellence and make meaningful connections with the staff and students.
Our food pantry has been visited frequently this summer. We are currently low on almost all items, including oil, jelly, tuna, canned meals such as chili or Chef Boyardee, spaghetti sauce, canned green beans, canned fruits, and boxed meals such as macaroni & cheese or Tuna Helper. Non-perishable donations may be left behind the Guest Services desk at any time. Thank you for your faithfulness to this outreach ministry!
