Empowered to Connect 2019

Experience practical teaching in a safe and supportive community as we work to equip families, churches, and professionals to better serve children impacted by adoption and foster care.

This year’s conference includes Trust-Based Relational Intervention® (TBRI®) methods developed by Dr. Karyn Purvis and Dr. David Cross from the Karyn Purvis Institute of Child Development, which exists to bring attachment and connection in families. The nationwide participation in the Empowered to Connect Conference is a testament to the impact and work of Dr. Karyn Purvis.

“As a parent my children’s well-being is always on my mind. What is going on in their brain and body that makes them react this way, or thrive/fail in that situation. The information presented during the Empowered to Connect conference made me feel like I had eaten from the tree of “child inner-workings” knowledge. The tools provided for meeting the needs of our kids, through relationship, are absolutely invaluable.” Kara Williams

"This is a 2-day conference that offers tools to adoptive parents, foster parents, parents, teachers, social workers and other professionals who work with children to help a child be the best he/she can be. Understanding the effects of drama and trauma in the lives of children is important in learning to understand and work with them to build trust and positive relationships."
Borgny Anderson

"Empowered to Connect really opened my eyes regarding the trauma even a newborn may have endured before birth and how to nurture, guide and help that child." Katie Kehoe
